any ideas for a glamourous childrens tea party?
every year, i organize a teaparty for my daughter who is now 4. i want to do something glamourous and fun for her, but something we havent exactly done before. i usually invite her friends over (and her friends moms, so we can chat), and let them dress up in our dressup bin, before going out into our large garden to eat and drink. there, i serve tea with sugar, “crumpets”, and mini sandwiches. however, i am starting to worry that it is getting old. any ideas for what i can do to make the parties more exciting?
regardless of what some of you think “that it is not a good idea for a 4 year old and you just care about what the other moms think,” i only do these because my daughter wants to. and yes, the clothing is appropriate. i truly do care about my daughter and what she wants, and so i do these parties so she has a chance to express herself with her friends. alos, she is very smart, not because we push her, but because she pushes herself. i am a very laid back mother ,and honestly, i am a little bit annoyed that some people think i am not doing this for her. my daughter is my life, and you need to know that i would do nothing to hurt her.
Just ignore the haters. 
I think a tea party is a really cute idea, and making it a tradition means your daughter and her friends will look forward to it every year.
My suggestion is to allow the girls a chance to create their own recipes this year. They’ll have fun playing “kitchen” before getting all dressed up, and they’ll also have a sense of accomplishment. Provide them with ingredients that couldn’t possibly taste bad when combined and allow them to create the recipe (I’m thinking about ingredients that can just be poured into a bowl and mixed together, but you can certainly venture out more if you’re brave). You could even encourage them to make up names for the ingredients (pretzel sticks could be magic wands, marshmallows could be princess pillows).
Another idea is to let them “bring” their favorite book character to the party. They can bring the book and have an invisible book character friend with a place set for them at the table. After the tea and crumpets, the moms could take turns reading the books to all the girls.
